Tired of sitting in an office, wishing you were outdoors instead? Interested in working in the dive industry? Or simply just keen to achieve the highest possible rating as a diver? Consider going pro with us.
DIVEIndia offers one of the leading professional training programs anywhere - the only dive center in India offering professional training with 3 agencies. That means you end up with more professional qualifications (and that's always a good thing in this industry) and more choices (so you can find the program that is the best match for what you want out of being a pro diver).
And we have the most experienced team of instructor and instructor trainers on the staff - instructors with years and years of teaching and real-world diving experience. So you will learn not only the bare minimum covered in the requirements, but also all the extras that make the difference between being "certified" vs being "qualified" as a divemaster or instructor.
Our goal is to produce qualified dive professionals, and in keeping with our philosophy, we do not teach to bare minimum standards. To qualify, you must meet and exceed the training requirements and also meet the following test: would we let you lead or manage a dive involving one of our loved ones - a spouse, a sibling or a child? This "loved one" test was first introduced and formalized by NAUI, and we have adopted it to all aspects of our professional training - all pro diver candidates are trained until they pass this test.
PROFESSIONAL DIVER LEVELS:
There are two main levels in professional diver training - first, there is Divemaster/Assistant Instructor - they mostly manage certified divers or help instructors in their teaching; the next level up is Instructor - instructors are the only dive professionals allowed to teach and certify students.
Different agencies weigh the Divemaster (DM)/Assistant Instructor (AI) ratings differently. The typical progression with the 3 agencies we teach is as follows:
NAUI: Master Diver --> Assistant Instructor --> Divemaster --> Instructor
PADI: Divemaster --> Assistant Instructor --> Instructor
SSI: DiveControl Specialist (Asst Instructor + Divemaster) --> Instructor
NAUI places the Assistant Instructor at a lower rating than DM, because under their rules, AIs work under the supervision of an instructor while DMs are working independently with divers of varying levels of experience, training and abilities.
PADI has the Assistant Instructor higher than a DM, although under the PADI system, there is very little practical difference in terms of what the AI can do, when compared to a DM. Here, the AI is merely an intermediate step towards becoming an Instructor.
SSI does away with the distinction between DM and AI, and simply qualifies their first level of dive professionals as Dive Control Specialists, which is equivalent to DM + AI combined.
