Accommodation in Havelock
 

Havelock is a fairly small island, but despite its size, it offers a large number of places to stay, mostly in the budget category, with a few mid-to-upper end alternatives.

We are pleased to announce the much-awaited (by us, anyway) opening of our partner resort - Island Vinnie's Tropical Beach Cabanas. Nestled against the beach amidst swaying palm fronds, the resort offers comfortable, good value accommodation to suit a wide array of budgets.

As wandering divers ourselves, we don't like paying a lot for expensive hotels (especially when that money can be better spent on tank fills or scuba gadgets). However, we appreciate the value of something comfortable to come back to after a long day of watching fishies. And that is exactly the sort of accommodation we offer.

It isn't the cheapest, nor is it the most expensive. We feel it sits right on the "sweet spot" when it comes to value for money. Simply put - we've tried to make it the sort of place where we would choose to live in, were we traveling.

Our Standard Huts, with shared facilities, are only a little bit more than the basic backpacker huts in the area, but for that little increment, you get a lot more: clean ablution blocks with 24/7 hot water [currently disabled due to electricity problems on the island]; comfy beds with fresh sheets and no bugs; courteous service; and a chance to sleep in just a bit longer! Cost: Rs 500/night in season.

We have also upgraded some of the Standard Cabanas to include an attached bathroom - and in a fit of creative genius, call them Upgraded Huts. Cost: Rs 900/night in season.

Our Tented Cabanas are larger, have a balcony with rocking chairs (perfect for dozing or reading), attached bathrooms (also with 24/7 hot water) and are less than a minute away from the sea. And you get the attention of Frodo and Sam, our two boisterous and friendly retriever puppies (well, in their minds they are still puppies anyway). Staggeringly g0od value, if we may say so ourselves. Cost: Rs 1500/night in season.

Our restautant, the Full moon Cafe, serves healthy, tasty food in hearty-sized portions and at hours that are designed around the needs of divers. And it is fast developing a reputation as the best restaurant in Havelock.

We also offer an array of services to make your visit more memorable: birding walks, fishing, snorkeling, email, movies, laundry, memory card downloads, DVD/CD burning, beach bonfires and more. And, of course, we have Frodo & Sam, the dogs (who really, really, really want to be your friends) and the cat (who really, really doesn't). What else could you ask for?
